I hate road trips with the baby.
Anything over two hours is way too long for him to be strapped into the carseat, and he lets us know. Oh, the suffering!

Your MIL rocks, Amelia! And I’m glad that you got to go on the airplane w/ your little(st) man. Much easier than a two day, cross-country trip. Hope you guys are settling in OK (temporarily, at least).

This is a GREAT idea! Thanks for sharing it. My little one isn’t old enough yet to probably get the concept. We are taking a 10 hour drive one day, then a 4 hour drive the next in July (to see Dawn!) and our strategy is to bring a ton of books (which she loves), DVD player, a few toys, and snacks. Also we plan to leave early in the morning like at 3 am, so she’ll sleep. When she wakes up, she gets a fun breakfast in the car. There isn’t much you can do to entertain a 2 year old.

Thank you Thank you Thank you for posting this!!! This could not have come at a better time. We are leaving next Wednesday for our annual trip to Nebraska and Colorado (20 hrs of driving) and I have been racking my brain for some ideas to keep my 4 kids busy. This coin idea will be great for the older 3! I’m heading out to buy some gold coins today.:) Tell you mother in law that she is a genius.:)
