Always enjoy your book reviews, Amelia! I think the problem in America is getting most doctors to believe that homeopathic remedies can be as effective as conventional medicine. Like with birthing (esp. hospital vs. birthing center or home births), many physicians have been programmed to think a certain way, and comparatively few are willing to think outside the box.

I like the sound of this book. I have been incorporating traditional and natural medicine in my life for more than 5 years and I have been extremely happy with using both. I have eliminated almost all of my allergies (with NAET treatments) and have been able to avoid antibiotics most of the time for sinus and ear infections. I have also seen a traditional doctor when my Naturopathic doctor recommended or I thought I needed to. I have also seen a chiropractor for several years. I think it's great when we can use a more natural or preventative approach. I would love to do the same with our children. I think they complement each other.

I think it's great to incorporate traditional and alternative medicine into a lifestyle that works for each family. I have always used traditional medicine for my allerges and asthma, but have just started an alternative therapy called BAX 3000 for chronic conditions - you can read about it at www.biovedawellness.com. It's supposed to retrain the body to have a positive or neutral response to allergens and stress inducing substances without needles and medications! If it works for me, I may let my son try it, and he has some food allergies/sensitivities. There's no reason why traditional and alternative medicine can't coexist.
