Tried both the Apple oat-cakes and the Banana Johnny cakes. The apple oat cakes were pretty good. Very healthy but bland. So a great option for a toddler and toasted with a little butter, I liked them too. However, the Banana Johnny cakes were a horrible, sticky clumpy mess on the pan. I tried different oils, stainless steel pans and alos a nonstick pan. They didn't cook...but stuck to the pan making an awfully difficult cleaning job! Did I do something wrong!! Any suggestions? I stopped half way through my third try and decided to add to eggs. This allowed them so cook very well in the shape of a pancake. They browned nicely and looked like how I imagined they should have...but they did not taste good at all.

I really like the idea of making a few different types of "pancake" kinds of things at the beginning of the week and then having them to grab and munch on throughout the week. So, I really want to get the Johnny Cakes right!

I've given homemade falafel to the baby and he liked it a lot! The other two will most likely eat it next time I serve it. Sometimes it takes a few times before they eat it with gusto.

I was giving the baby tofu and loving it and then he went on a tofu strike. Oh well. I'll keep trying though! I love how protein packed it is. We eat it for dinner sometimes in a rice bowl recipe so I know he'll probably give in eventually.

I need to find where to buy wheat germ here. There's an organic produce group that delivers fresh veggies every week (along with other organic and whole-wheat items, including wheat germ), but it's not cheap.

My son (4 y.o.) loves falafel too. And it's a street food here, so it's an easy inexpensive way to feed him!

These are great suggestions, Amelia! I know I need new ideas. I know Ace is totally tired of cheerios. I have the Super Baby Food Book and I really like it. There is a similar pancake recipe in that one too.
